This will be TWQ’s official first post. I’m Lori and I’m the Admin for this blog. I started The Weight Question for several reasons. The first reason is that I’ve been overweight all my life, I’m one of those people who has tried everything but the end result is that weight wise I’m still not where I want to be. Last week I decided to start doing something about it again and I said to myself that this time I would go about it differently. Because I find that what lacks me most in my attempts to loose weight is motivation and support, I decided to start this blog and share my experiences. But that is of course not the only purpose of it… I would like for The Weight Question to become a (virtual) place where ANYONE who faces similar challenges can log on to find some motivation and support.

Another reason for doing this is that I’ve done it before. In January 2007 I started The Lesbian Question, which is a blog that is based on the same principles as this one. Anyone can post questions in the form of a blogpost and anyone can comment. It’s as simple as that. The Lesbian Question has become quite popular over the past year and has helped a few people along the way; and that’s what inspired me to start a similar blog with a different focus: our bodies.

Anyway, last week I decided (again) that I wanted to change something about my body because I’m not that happy with it. I did some internet research and actually it always boils to the same thing: eat less and exercise more. It sounds so simple, doesn’t it? I believe that with the right motivation it actually can be that simple. But obviously the real challenge isn’t the beginning of it all, it’s keeping it up. Motivation is a tricky thing and bad days tend to destroy it. That’s why I thought that reading other people’s experiences could help.

So, now it’s your turn to share your experiences, tips and frustrations. Register here and get cracking.
